Enveloped by the wind that stirs her hair, the young woman appears suspended between what has been and what is about to end. Before her stands a dense wall of vegetation, concealing a mystery — or perhaps a threshold. Her gaze, calm and contemplative, seems to watch over something — or someone — beyond the frame. The tall yellow flowers mark the passage of the seasons and the relentless rhythm of time. In this solemn stillness, the figure represents not only youth or memory but becomes a symbol of what endures beyond disappearance: the works, the gestures, the traces left behind. *What Will Stay* is a meditation on permanence and oblivion. The artist, like every human being, is destined to be forgotten; yet in this scene, the young woman — an emblem of his creations — keeps vigil over his tomb, continuing to bring life where everything seems to have come to an end. Thus, even as the author fades, what he has created remains: fragile yet eternal, like a breath that echoes endlessly through the silence of time.
