At last, the rain came, but no drops reached her face from the sky.
Salvi plays with the title to reveal the meaning of the image: the girl immobilized among the vines, a symbol of her feelings, is about to begin a copious weeping of pain.
The sky is dark and foretells the arrival of turbulence, but she—though shaken—maintains her own pride. Exactly like the goddess of the “Quicksands of the Soul,” this young woman has allowed herself to be caught and involved by her feelings, to the point of being irrevocably bound by them. The omen has come true: the rain would come sooner or later; it can no longer be stopped.
