CATALOGUE NOTE

"Dawn, Sunset,

where everything is still possible"

Naked, pure, luminescent: it’s the Mother of Pearl, manifesting in a surreal but possible landscape.

In this evocative piece, we are presented with a tableau that transcends the mere depiction of form, achieving a profound commentary on the essence and the ether of the natural world.

The central figure, a personification of the Mother of Pearl, stands naked, her luminosity juxtaposing the darkening twilight. She is both subject and object, converging the animate with the inanimate, her form melding seamlessly with the object of her representation—a lustrous, spiral shell, a symbol of life, and fertility.

This artwork is a meditation on textures and light. The iridescence of the shell is not merely a visual element, but a thematic pivot around which the piece revolves. It embodies transformation, capturing the fleeting dance of light and color across the contours of life.

The figure's poise is contemplative, her gaze directed towards the horizon, suggesting a narrative of introspection and connection with nature. Her placement within the landscape, between the velvety sands and the gentle wash of the waves, signifies a harmony with the elements, a synchronization with the ebb and flow of nature's own rhythms.

The moon, hanging low in the sky, bathes the scene in a celestial glow, marking the transition from night to day. It is a moment of balance, of poised potential, where anything seems possible. The sea, a recurrent motif in Salvi's art, is rendered here with tranquility, its waves whispering secrets of the depths, reinforcing the sense of serenity and mystery that envelops the figure.

This piece, therefore, is more than a mere visual delight; it is a philosophical inquiry into the interconnectedness of all things, the beauty of form, and the deeper resonances that objects hold within them. The viewer is invited not just to look, but to feel, to contemplate, and to immerse themselves in the layers of meaning that ripple through this stunning composition.
